Welcome to Small Farm Academy

I'm Luke Callahan, the creator of Small Farm Academy. If your goal is to start a small farm, but you need a bit of help, we're here for you.

The Small Farm Academy community brings together people who are building small scale farms that produce artisan quality food and farm products for markets near and far.

We know it can be difficult to make a living as a small scale farmer, so we focus on teaching you how to create efficient systems of production and how to tap into high value markets for your products.

Our goal, in Small Farm Academy is to partner with the producers who have the best systems in place and essentially "Open Source" their business model so that you can skip the learning curve and use their systems to find your own success in your first year.

Don't Reinvent the Wheel

You are not the first organic farmer to be heading down this path. There is no reason to be coming up with your own systems when you're first starting out. You will be far better served to focus your energy on replicating what has been proven to work. And then, once you feel comfortable with your production, you can innovate and help develop the best systems.

All you need to do is learn the systems that are working for people, avoid the systems that have caused others to fail, and you'll be on your path to success.

The Small Farm Academy Business Model

We are here to illuminate your path to success in short, clearly defined steps. We develop roadmaps for you to follow, just like baking a cake, except these are small farm focused.

Every year we see new farmers calling it quits because they do the wrong things, and never make a successful business of it.

We believe if you can effectively get new customers and produce your product in an efficient manner, you have a much greater chance for success than those around you.

We're here to make sure that you are successful. We want to help you to focus on what is going to get you results. We will show you how to use:

1. Effective production methods that produce artisanal products and save time on labor and materials.

2. Simple marketing methods to get you more customers.

In short, we're here to help you focus on what's important - Making great products and selling them to customers.

The Small Farm Academy develops each educational course in clear, easy to follow action steps, that are relevant to you and your farm.

We develop all of our educational courses as though we are starting that farming enterprise ourselves (often, we are) so we can make sure the information and action steps are relevant to you and your farm.

At the end of the day, we are here to accelerate your path into farming.
