LEARN HOW TO:

Grow Your Crops

No experience needed.
We teach you everything you need to know to go from not knowing what a microgreen is to producing over 50 pounds of microgreens per week.

Get Your Customers

Follow our simple, effective system to get new customers, build relationships, and cultivate your tribe of loyal customers.

Build Your Farm

We will teach you how to track every dollar in and out of your farm and ensure you stay on the track to success.

WHY MICROGREENS?

Microgreens are great for new and established farmers alike because they are:

Highly Profitable - One of the most profitable crops you can grow, often selling for more than $50 per pound.

Easy to Grow - You don't need to be a horticultural expert to learn the art of growing microgreens.

Quick Yields - No need to wait a season to harvest and sell your crops. Microgreens allow you to get a harvest within weeks and focus on the task of selling your crops.

Easy Product to Add to Your Farm - They are perfect as a standalone business or addition to any small farm.

How Much Can You Expect To Earn?

Of course it depends on your market, but we can make some broad assumptions and get a ballpark figure.

Step 1 - Let's assume you will be serving two types of customers:

  1. Farmer's Markets
  2. Restaurants

(You can serve groceries and distributors later on, but farmer's markets and restaurants are great customers to start with)

Step 2 - Let's put a simple value on each customer.

  1. Farmer's Markets - $400/week
  2. Restaurants - $75/week

Step 3 - Now, figure out how many of each "customer" you can serve by looking at two different scenarios:

Scenario #1 - One Farmer's Market and One Restaurant

Farmer's Market Revenue: 1x $400 = $400

Restaurant Revenue: 1 x $75 = $75

Total - $475 earned per week

Scenario #2 - One Farmer's Market and 10 restaurants

Farmer's Market Revenue: 1 x $400 = $400

Restaurant Revenue: 10 x $75 = $750

Total - $1,150 earned per week

Here you can see two different scenarios of what you could earn. The important thing for you to think about is how much you want to earn and work backwards from there using this logic.

How Much Does it Cost to Get Started?

Now that we have a rough sense of earning potential, here is a quick breakdown of the costs to get a simple microgreens operation up and running.

  • Growing Trays 100 @ $2.00 each - $200
  • Seeds - $400
  • Fluorescent Grow Lights (8 @ $20 each - $160
  • Growing Rack - $100
  • Soil - $50
  • Farmer's Market Display - $100
  • Insurance - $300

Total "Basic Operation" Startup Cost - $1,300~

What is the Hardest Part about Getting Started?

As with most businesses, no individual task too terribly challenging.

There is, of course, a bit of skill involved with growing the microgreens, but more than anything, the sheer magnitude of tasks needing to be done, and done in the right order, can be overwhelming

Questions like:

  • What is the right soil?
  • Where do I find flats to plant in?
  • How do I get chefs as customers?
  • How do I create an invoice?
  • What insurance do I need for my farm?
  • What varieties should I grow?
  • And on, and on.

All the details can be overwhelming which is why we have taken a step by step approach to cover all of the nitty gritty details you need to know.
